Top 5 FREE Productivity Apps for Entrepreneurs

Here are my current top 5 favorite (free) apps as a content creator!

    1. TRELLO

I use this to communicate with my VA, I also use it to write all on my content and scripts out. So it doesn’t matter if I’m sitting at the vet, I can write my scripts on my phone. If I’m at the grocery store and get a content idea, its nothing for me to whip out my phone and put that idea in Trello. Plus, I use Trello to communicate with my VA and see what task are being worked on and complete.

I store all of my content in Google Drive. So once I finish a video, I put that script into google drive to be formatted into a blog post.
      – Once I record a video, I put my graphics in Google Drive so my VA can turn them into YouTube or Pinterest templates.
      – I have all of my promo things in Google Drive to be scheduled out as well and its nice because Google Drive is where I store content.

    3. PLANOLY

Most social media platforms allow you to schedule things out such as YouTube, Facebook and Pinterest… however, Instagram does not so I use Planoly to schedule out my IG stories… specifically promos to let my audience know of a new video. I also use it for Pinterest pins and metrics. Scheduling content helps me to stay consistent.

This another app that syncs to everything… so if i’m laying in bed and I need to do something tomorrow, I’ll whip out my phone and put it on my to-do list. That morning, when I’m working on my computer. I open up my to-do list app on mac and I have the things I need to. It helps me to not forget things and I can put due dates like answer this email by Thursday. Submit this info tomorrow.

  1.  5. WAVE APP

I use wave app to help with my budget. I have it synced up and it allows me to see how much I spent, how much I made, my profit margins. I can also create invoices, do monthly billing for clients…. Wave is great it helps balance my business money and I’m not having to pen and notebook everything down.

My Less than $300 cheap kitchen renovation

Looking for a cheap kitchen renovation that takes under a week to do? How about under $300?! Yes, you heard right! Today, I’m sharing my inexpensive kitchen renovation that even beginners can do!

Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?

Me: I hate my kitchen. It’s so dated! It needs a renovation!

My bank account: Do you have kitchen renovation money?

Me: No

When I purchased my home, there was one room that I truly hated… the kitchen.

First of all, I hate two-tone cabinets. They scream 2006.

Second of all, the counter-tops and lack of glam just isn’t my style!

Since most of my budget went to ripping up the carpet and installing flooring, I had very little money left over for a kitchen renovation.

Me being the budgetnista that I am, I decided that I would do a few kitchen upgrades myself and have a cheap kitchen renovation.

The kitchen before:

The kitchen after

(how did I do?):

My Less than $300 cheap kitchen renovation

It doesn’t even look like the same kitchen right?! I did the majority of the work myself (I had a friend help me paint the countertops), and it took only a few days to do!

My cheap kitchen remodel

The Cabinets: Painting

The first thing I decided to do was paint the cabinets a timeless white. Just painting the cabinets alone was a transformation:

I used 2 coats of KILZ 2 Multi-Surface Stain Blocking Interior/Exterior Latex Primer/Sealer, and then 2 coats of Valspar Cabinet Enamel Semi-Gloss Latex Interior Paint.

The Faux Brick Backsplash

Real brick backsplash would have been way too pricey, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it myself.

So instead I opted for this faux brick wall backsplash. It’s 3 dimensional so afar it looks really, really cool!

I won’t say it looks like brick from afar, but it doesn’t look like a peel and stick either, which is a win for me! I do highly recommend you have help with this because it can be tedious lining up the bricks. One thing I will say about this peel and stick is that once it sticks, IT STICKS!! So if you mess up, you can’t restick it because the back has some heavy-duty glue. I recommend ordering a few extra strips just in case!

I used about 6 sheets altogether. One of those sheets I had to throw away completely because as I mentioned before, if you align it wrong while sticking, you can’t reuse it.

The sticky part can only be applied once.
I purchased these peel n stick brick wall panels from amazon.

The Cabinets: hardware

Next up was the hardware for my cabinets!

I opted for these 8″ stainless steel metal draw pulls to match my stainless steel appliances. I did have to buy new nails because the nails that came with it were too short for my bottom drawers.

I purchased my hardware on amazon and I’m thrilled I did because they were double the price at lowes and home depot!

My cheap kitchen renovation was coming along…

The Countertops

If I have one regret during my kitchen renovation, it’s the countertops.

I wish I had painted them darker and not so light. I used Giani Countertop Paint Kit, White Diamond which I was really nervous about because once you mess up countertops, there’s no going back! However, I ended up really liking the kit, and I plan to do my guest bathroom countertops with this kit as well!

The kit includes everything you need as well as steps. The first step is applying the black primer:

My sweet friend, Ashley, helping me paint the countertops!

After I finished painting the counter-tops with the black primer, I seriously contemplated just leaving them black because I loved how the black looked! My friend Ash recommended that I follow through with the original plans of gray countertops, so I took her advice lol!

I purchased my Giani Countertop Paint Kit, White Diamond from Amazon because I have prime so it was 2-day free shipping! If you don’t have amazon prime, I HIGHLY recommend you get it! I purchased the majority of my stuff on amazon because their prices were lower plus 2-day free shipping and great return policy!

You can even try amazon prime FREE for 30 days! Just click here for the promotion.
Once I painted the primer on my countertops, I allowed 24 hours to dry. The Giani Countertop Paint Kit, White Diamond includes a sponge that you paint different colors with.

It wasn’t my favorite part lol, and I feel I went a little overboard with the paint, which I regret. I wish I would have kept it darker, but you live, and you learn (also, painting while sipping wine is a big NO-NO lol!)

I love the countertops, though! I’ve had these countertops 90 days so far, and they still look great!

The Results

I’m not the handiest person in the world, but I still think I did a fantastic job!

My entire kitchen renovation was under $300. The most expensive thing being the countertop paint priced at $80.

What do you guys think about this cheap kitchen renovation? Did I do a good job?

UPDATE:It’s been 6 months since I redid my kitchen and it still looks great! I loved my kitchen so much that I decided to do my guest bathroom the exact same using the Giani Countertop Paint Kit in White Diamond! Check out the video below and the blog post here

What’s for dinner? My Easy Seafood Crab Platter!

When I was a child, I HATED seafood. I especially disliked crab legs because it seemed so barbaric eating the meat out of a carcass. Now I LOVE crab legs and my favorite is this easy seafood crab platter.

Random fact: My family had a cookoff last Christmas. I won with this recipe.

My family can’t get enough of this platter, and days like this when I crave seafood soooo bad, I have to make me a seafood tray featuring my cilantro garlic butter sauce to throw on top of all this deliciousness! Seafood trays can be pricey so a great way to cut the price is to make it yourself! It’s so easy and so delicious!

I LOVE king crab legs (my favorite… but pricey) but feel free to use whatever crab legs you like such as snow crab legs (which I use sometimes too). I also add shrimp, potatoes and corn because I already have a muffin top, I might as well to it. You can also add sausage which I add occasionally. If you want to eat a vegetable with it, I recommend artichokes.

I like to add lots of seafood seasoning (*cough* ol bay *cough*) to my tray. You can literally throw everything in one pot (minus the crab legs, which I like to steam in a separate pot with beer, lemon and ol bay seasoning). Again, seafood trays are easy. If it’s hard, you’re doing too much!

Crab Platter Ingredients:

4-6 King Crab Legs
Beer (I use whatever is cheap at the store)
Old Bay or Seafood Seasoning (to taste)
2 Lemons cut in half
Frozen Corn
Red Potatoes or any small potatoes
Sausage (optional)

Crab Platter Directions:

In one pot, bring 5 quarts of water to boil. Squeeze lemon juice into water and then add the lemon halves to water. Add seafood seasonings (to taste). I, personally, like to add a lot.

Add potatoes and allow to cook until tender (remember the smaller the potatoes, the quicker they cook!). Once tender add in frozen corn (5-8 minutes). Reduce heat to medium-low and add shrimp (should be completely submerged) about 5 minutes. Feel free to add more seafood seasonings as you add each component to the pot. If you’re adding in sausage, you would throw it in the pot right before the shrimp.

In a separate pot combine beer, seafood seasoning, and lemon halves. Bring to a boil. Turn heat down to medium, add crab legs and cover pot. Allow to steam for 10 minutes (crab legs should be red).

Cilantro Butter Garlic Sauce (for the Crab Platter)

2 sticks of melted unsalted butter
3 tbsp crushed garlic
8 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro
1 tsp onion powder
Salt & Pepper(to taste)
1-2 tbsp of lemon juice

Directions: Add all of the butter sauce ingredients together and whisk together until its thick. Pour on the tray!

Now be prepared to DEVOUR! If you end up trying this recipe, please let me know!

I usually don’t post food recipes on this blog but my friends and family rave about this crab platter so much (and ask for the recipe) that I had to share! Why? Because sharing is caring!

How To Make Whipped Shea Butter At Home

A few years ago I received a complimentary bottle of Shea oil and I’ve been hooked ever since! I started purchasing Shea butter in the raw to compliment the oil but it’s pretty tough and can be a pain to spread across your skin in its natural solid-state. I’ve been trying new methods to keep my skin in great condition.

This whipped Shea butter is amazing! My skin loves it and I instantly notice a difference once I apply it! I add coconut oil, jojoba oil, and almond oil to my whipped butter but you can honestly add whatever oil of your choice!

This is great for those who have dry skin and/or want more natural skincare products!

Products Used:

– 1 cup unrefined shea butter
– 1.5 tablespoons fractionated coconut oil
– 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil
– 1.5 tablespoons of almond oil
essential oils (optional), I used 3 drops of peppermint, 5 drops of sweet orange and 3 drops of lavender
– Electric mixer
– Clean empty container (cleaned glass salsa jars and peanut butter jars work great!)

Watch the video!

Directions to make whipped Shea butter

1.Cut & Melt

Cut the Shea butter into pieces and Melt  (low setting) No higher than 175 F

2. Add other oils

Once the oil starts to cool, add other oils to the melt shea butter

3. Whip it together

Whip…. Whip it good lol. Whip the Shea butter with an electric mixer until it becomes a whipped soft texture.

4. Enjoy!

Store Whipped Shea butter inside a glass or plastic bottle

– If your Shea butter is solid, melt on a very low setting (I use a double boiler). Shea butter has a very low melting point. Shea butter starts to lose its nutrients when melted above 175 F
– make sure the mixture is completely cool before blending. The Shea butter will not whip if it’s warm. You can sit the bowl on top of a plate of ice while mixing to quicken the process
